Violeta Aylward, an agency nurse working for the NHS, was caught on camera turning off the ventilator keeping quadriplegic Jamie Merrett alive.



Ambition 24hours, the agency through which Miss Aylward was employed to care for Mr Merrett at his home in Wiltshire, has operated since 1996.

Married couples to be handed huge pensions boost

The Government is planning a substantial increase to the state pension to give every elderly British resident around £140 a week, irrespective of circumstances, Vince Cable confirmed today. Married couples and women who have taken years out of the workplace to raise children would benefit in particular from the flat rate proposal. For married couples the move amounts to a 50 per cent rise in their pension income.
